Area with rapseed goes up 15 percent

There is great interest in growing winter rapeseed in Denmark.

Here in 2026, the area with winter rapeseed has increased by 27,000 hectares to 187,000 hectares, Seges Innovation reports based on the first figures for this year's applications for basic payment.

This corresponds to an increase of 15 percent.

Otherwise, there is not a very large shift in the area of ​​the crops.

The total grain area for the 2026 harvest is 1,215 million hectares. This is close to the area in 2025, only 3,000 hectares lower, according to the figures published by Landbrugsavisen.

However, these are preliminary figures, as it is still possible to make corrections to the submitted applications.

 

Area in 2026 compared to 2025:

Winter wheat: 443,000 ha.

Spring barley: 505,000 ha.

Oats: 24,000 ha.

Potatoes: 71,000 ha.

Broad beans: 20,000 ha.

Peas: 8,000 ha.

Maize for whole grain: 171,000 ha.

Grass: 484,000 ha.

Seed for sowing: 86,000 ha.

Fallow:139,000 ha.
