Now a busy time awaits Emmelev A/S, as many local farmers who harvest these weeks deliver their rapeseed directly to the mill.
The harveston Nordfyn, Denmark, is well underway, and here at the end of July, the first load of rapeseed came in on the weighbridge at Emmelev A/S.
It was plantbreeder Kaj Emdal, Lunde south of Otterup, who delivered directly from the fields. He farms a total of 285 hectares, of which 35 hectares are rapeseed, and it was about half of the rapeseed that was dry enough to be harvested and delivered.
Kaj Emdalis generally pleased with very good yields in the fields this year. Springbarley has yielded well, and so have the peas. Kaj Emdal also grows faba beans for a new factory in Hedensted, as well as grass seed for DLF and would also like to have as many hectares as possible of winter wheat, but this is limited by the rules on catch crops.
He is a full-time plant breeder, as it is the field management that has always interested him the most:
-I am alone in the work here on the farm, but in the harvest my friend, Ole Hansen, helps, and it was also Ole Hansen who had the honor of taking the first trip toEmmelev.
We deliverall rapeseed directly to Emmelev, while the rest of the crops are stored at home. We have room for that, even though it may be a positive problem this year with the cannon yields that are in prospect. I wonder if there will be a plus of 10-15 percent this year, is the assessment from Kaj Emdal after the first harvest days.
