Emmelev A/S is ready for NutriFair: Supplying feed cakes to 85,000 cows

Meet Emmelev A/nnt at danish exhibition i Fredericia

Emmelev A/S is a permanent fixture at the NutriFair exhibition in Fredericia, Jutland, this January, and many farmers are expected to visit Emmelev's stand again this year to have a chat about rapeseed, biodiesel and sustainable feed cakes.

Emmelev A/S is known for producing sustainable biodiesel for the transport sector made from rapeseed, but in fact its production also includes sustainable, GMO-free and protein-rich rapeseed cakes for the benefit of 85,000 dairy cows. They replace part of the controversial import of soy from the USA and South America.

A few years ago, Emmelev developed a new and efficient production of drier and granulated and thus more shelf-stable rapeseed cakes, and this has meant that demand has increased, especially on Funen, but also in parts of Jutland, says Michael W. Trolle, who works with purchasing and sales at Emmelev A/S.

He, together with director Morten Simonsen, Emmelev A/S, is looking forward to the NutriFair exhibition:

“We have good experience with many farmers coming by our stand at the exhibition to talk about deliveries of rapeseed and purchases of our feed cakes. We always have a good chat about what is happening in agriculture, and I have great respect for the farmers who look after their animals day in and day out. If we can contribute with good feed cakes for the dairy cows, that is absolutely fine,” says Morten Simonsen.

In fact, the feed cakes contribute to a large part of the displacement of CO2, which is the result of production based on rapeseed. Rapeseed cakes make up 25 percent of the total production based on rapeseed and therefore take up a lot of space.

"We believe that rapeseed cakes are one of the feed materials of the future. We need to be more self-sufficient in proteins in Denmark, and rapeseed cakes contribute to that development and have a positive effect on milk yield and the health and well-being of the cows. The rapeseed cakes are Danish and produced in the local area, and this is the reason why many cattle producers buy directly from the factory," says Morten Simonsen.

Facts

Emmelev A/S is the only company in Denmark that supplies biodiesel based on rapeseed

When the rapeseed is split, we get glycerin and biodiesel, with rapeseed cakes as a residual product

Glycerin is by far the most expensive product and helps to carry the entire production through. The glycerin is sold to some of Denmark's largest companies within the production of enzymes and ingredient sand is also exported to Sweden

For example, glycerin is found in washing powder and cleaning agents, as well as in many foods, where it is used as an emulsifier and stabilizer
